Because all writers need Rest.
This is the time that you reserve for yourself, to become centered, grounded, and reawakened. Writing can be tasking, but we enjoy it nonetheless—more specifically, the final result. The finished manuscript is an accomplishment all in itself— getting it to print is just the icing on the cake. If you’ve accomplished such a task, pat yourself on the back, as some begin but do not finish. As a writer and author, our Founder knows firsthand that “finally it’s finished” feeling.
Regardless of the time it takes to reach the finish line, you’ve finished nonetheless. Allow yourself time to rest before beginning your next project, and even time to rest while your project is in progress. From experience our Founder can attest to the benefits and rewards of true rest. Sometimes you have to put the pen down or step back from your computer. It is okay to take a break without feeling guilty. It will help you in the long run. Find ways to pamper yourself as you work to make it enjoyable.
Celebrate the small victories, a finished chapter, for example, deserves to be celebrated which means you deserve to be rewarded! Choose what your ‘treat’ will be. Are you already writing abroad? That’s a treat in itself. Our Founder finds that travel is the best reward she can give herself while working on large projects. It tantalizes the senses particularly if you’re somewhere exotic, like somewhere in the Caribbean. What better way, yes? Yes!
